UPWARD Talent Council serves the 15 counties of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and is in search of a Chief Executive Officer. Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for UPWARD Talent Council is responsible for providing strategic oversight and leadership within a large geographical region of 16,377 square miles, that make up the 15 counties of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The CEO will work directly with the UPWARD Talent Council County Commissioner Board, UPWARD Talent Council Workforce Development Board and Leadership Team to determine and establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and polices that drive the organization. The CEO will work with local, regional, state and federal stakeholders to drive successful and prosperous partnerships. UPWARD Talent Council is looking for a business leader with strong networking capabilities with the ability to think strategically and utilize a high level of business and financial acumen. Travel: There is a significant amount of travel within the region and state with this position. Some out-of-state travel is required. Job Qualifications: • Experience in the National Workforce System • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • Experience with a board of directors • Experience attracting, leading, developing and growing individuals and teams (talent) • Financial management, including budgeting and funder compliance experience • Experience with strategic planning, including vertical and horizontal implementation • Knowledgeable about economic, community and workforce development, including state and federal legislations, programs, policy and regulations • (Master’s Degree preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field and a minimum of three to five years of strong senior leadership/management experience.
